Armed police used road spikes to stop a car they believe was involved in an aggravated robbery following a high speed chase in Auckland tonight.
The pursuit lasted four minutes, before the car was spiked travelling at 100km/h and was stopped on Ash St in Avondale about 9pm, Inspector Cornell Kluessien said.
Police had drawn guns and apprehended three people at the scene, he said.
"We believed they were involved with an aggravated robbery earlier on, and so obviously we had guns out...in case they start shooting."
No details about the aggravated robbery were available.
Police are still talking to the alleged offenders and no charges have been laid.
