A man accused of pointing a gun at his neighbour has handed himself in to police.
Police allege John William Finnerty, 57, presented a firearm at a person in Te Aroha yesterday afternoon.
The Waikato Armed Offenders Squad was sent to a Te Aroha house after reports of one or more shots being fired after an altercation between neighbours about 2:10pm.
Mr Finnerty was thought to be inside one of the houses.
Police tried to smoke him out with gas but he was nowhere to be seen.
Police then seized a gun from the house and broadened their search for Mr Finnerty.
Nobody was injured in the kerfuffle.
Mr Finnerty was described as European, approximately 183cm (6ft) of large build and with a distinctive gait. He handed himself in last night.
