Armed officers have arrested a man wanted over a shooting in Lower Hutt on Friday morning.
Police said members of the armed offenders squad arrested Charles Davis, 36, at an address in the eastern Hutt Valley about 1.30pm today.
They had been seeking Davis after a 20-year-old man was shot in the hand in Lower Hutt early on Friday.
The man arrived at Hutt Hospital with gunshot wounds to his hands and cuts to his scalp about 1.30am. He was understood to have been discharged after surgery.
Hutt Valley acting area commander Inspector Shane Cotter said today's arrest came after police received information from the public.
"I want to thank the public for their assistance over the last few days. We are pleased to have this matter resolved so quickly.
"I can reassure the public that their safety is of paramount concern to police and we take this type of offending very seriously."
Davis was expected to appear in the Hutt Valley District Court tomorrow morning charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Further charges were being considered.
Police arrested two other people, a 34-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, in relation to the incident on Friday.
Officers were carrying out a scene examination at a Harley Grove address. Further inquires and searches would continue over the coming days.
