Two people have been arrested after a 20-year-old man was shot in Lower Hutt overnight.
The man arrived at Hutt Hospital's emergency department with gunshot wounds to his hands and head cuts about 1.30am, police spokesman Nick Bohm said.
Police later arrested a 34-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man outside a property in Lower Hutt.
They would be charged later today over the incident.
Police still wanted to speak with another person who was at the property, 36-year-old Charles Davis, Mr Bohm said.
Hutt Valley area commander Inspector Shane Cotter said police were examining the scene of the shooting to piece together exactly what had happened and had not yet found found a firearm on the property.
The injuries suffered by the 20-year old were not believed to be life-threatening and police expected him to make a full recovery after surgery today, he said.
