Two people have been arrested following the "cowardly" robbery of a Wellington commercial cleaning premises over the weekend.

Police described the robbery as a "cowardly and viscous attack" on an elderly man and another person at the site.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard confirmed an early morning raid at a Lower Hutt address today, with the support of the Armed Offenders Squad, led to the arrests.

"A 25-year-old male and 22-year-old female have now been charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping and possession of cannabis for supply."

Mrt Howard said more charges were likely.

"A double-barreled sawn-off shotgun with ammunition, two other weapons, a quantity of cannabis packaged for sale and stolen property from the cleaning business have all been recovered from the property.

"The team of investigators have been relentlessly focused on identifying all those responsible," Mr Howard said.

Police expect to make more arrests over the attack.
