Police have charged a 25-year-old man over the murder of a man whose body was found at a South Auckland caravan park.

Stephen John Knibb, 66, was discovered dead near at the Ramarama Caravan park on Ararimu Road on Monday evening.

A scene examination and post-mortem was carried out yesterday.

The 25-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of this morning and charged with murder.

He will appear in Pukekohe District Court today.

Police said Mr Knibb was at the Country Inn pub near the caravan park on the Friday evening before his death.

They appealed for information from anyone who had seen him that evening.

Investigators also called for sightings of green or silver Mitsubishi Pajero or a red Subaru Impreza in the area on Friday night or Saturday morning.
