Two New Zealanders facing cannabis related charges in India have declined offers of assistance from New Zealand diplomats based in the region.
Allan Bruce Mills and his girlfriend Peta Sim Clair were arrested in Bhuntar, an area known for marijuana cultivation.
They are accused of possessing almost 100 grams of the drug.
If found guilty, they could face long jail terms as India has tough anti-drugs laws.
Officials from the New Zealand Embassy have been in touch with the couple, who say they do not want any help.
