Shane Bond's determined to help his new chargers avoid the injury problems that plagued him in his new capacity as Black Caps bowling coach.
The former paceman was injured regularly throughout his career especially with back complaints.
He heads to Sri Lanka today with the national side to begin his new role.
Bond says his relationship with the physio, trainer and the conditioner will be vitally important.
"From an injury point of view that's what I'm talking about, that profile. We need to know are these guys stiff? Are they tired? How they're eating, how they're sleeping, so that when they get an injury we can look back and say that this is a trend that's occurred and perhaps this is why the injury's occurred."
Bond says he'll have some assistance from former Sri Lankan seamer Chaminda Vaas, who'll help the left armers during the test series.
Vaas took 42 test wickets against New Zealand at a career average of 23.59.
