Everyone has dreamt of having an island all to themselves. And this dream could now become a reality.
The only home on Pelorus Island, an island off the east coast of northern Queensland, is up for sale. That's right, the only home, meaning you could live on a tropical island you can enjoy all to yourself.
Pelorus Island is the northernmost island of the Great Palm Island group and is located 45 nautical miles north of Townsville. The closest town is Lucinda, only 10 nautical miles away, which is a coastal residential and resort town.
The island is approximately four-square kilometres in size but you could own about 4000sqm of it with a beachfront home.
The house, which is on an island leasehold, features two bedrooms, one bathroom, and is self-sufficient using solar power and rainwater tanks. It also comes fully-furnished and with its own speedboat. However, there is a barge service that operates daily which can drop off groceries or other necessities.
Selling agent James Pascoe from Colliers International told news.com.au that the price guide is flexible and interest levels have been "excellent".
"We have had about 50,000 views online," he said, with inquiries coming mainly coming from QLD and NSW residents who are interested in purchasing it as a holiday home.
The current owners, Tony and Vicki Briggs, bought the home over 20 years ago when they owned and operated a Great Barrier Reef cruise business. They used the property as a stopover for their cruise ships, taking holiday-goers to visit the beach and snorkel.
Situated on the shores of the Coral Sea, it offers world-renowned snorkelling, diving and fishing.
They have since used the home as a holiday house after selling their cruise business in 2014.
