Hello sale for Brazier bookshop
A former Balmoral, Auckland, bookshop and residence of the late Hello Sailor lead singer, Graham Brazier has been purchased by a private investor for $1,150,000 after being presented at auction by Michael Greer of Ray White Broadway.
The 153sq m retail and residential 1920s character building at 714 Dominion Rd, Balmoral, housed a book shop owned by Christina Brazier.
"It was the home of Graham and his mother, and bookshop customers would sometimes find him strumming his guitar here," says Greer..
He says the vacant work-live building over two levels comprises a ground floor shop with an upstairs two-bedroom, one-bathroom flat.
"Graham Brazier's parents, Philip and Christina Brazier, purchased the property in 1963 and converted it from a cake shop to a book shop which she named Dominion Books," Greer says.
Windsor Castle sold
Famous 1850s pub, the Windsor Castle has sold for $6,620,000 through Cameron Melhuish and Mike Adams, Bayleys Auckland. The 890sq m corner site at 144 Parnell Rd, on the intersection with Windsor St, sold at a 3.8 per cent yield, fully leased to two tenants. A hospitality business leases the ground floor with a legal firm occupying upper-level character office space.
Albany retail and office unit
A 90 sq m unit in a retail/office development at B4, 210 Dairy Flat, has sold for $495,000 through Janet Marshall and Ellie Martin of Colliers International.
Royal Oak Wendy's
The Royal Oak Wendy's Restaurant has changed hands for the first time since 2000. The 1963sq m freehold property, has a newly refurbished restaurant with a 280 sq m floor area. Returning $162,500 net plus GST per annum, the property was marketed by Jonathan Lynch and Peter Kermode of Colliers International. It sold for $3,755,000, the yield being calculated at 4.3 per cent.
Takapuna corner site
A 150sq m 1960s' residential dwelling converted for commercial use on a high profile 883sq m site on the corner of Eldon St and Esmonde Rd in Takapuna has sold for $2.2 million at a 2.3 per cent yield, and well above its Capital Valuation of $950,000, through Simon Aldridge, Chris White and Michael Nees of Bayleys North Shore Commercial. The building is fully leased to legal and architectural practices on two-year leases.
Mt Wellington Highway site
A 11,225sq m Business 5 zoned land holding at 52 Cryers Rd and 51 Stonedon Drive, East Tamaki was sold for $4,753,000 at $421.8 per sq m through John Bolton, Roy Rudolph and Katie Wu of Bayleys South Auckland. The site is in two titles with access off both roads.
Showroom seller opposite Sylvia
A 352sq m showroom, part of a multi-unit development at 393 Mt Wellington Highway, opposite the Sylvia Shopping Centre, has sold for $3,001,000 at 4.6 per cent yield through Sunil Bhana, Mike Houlker and James Hill of Bayleys Auckland.
