Two industrial buildings ready for immediate occupation are for sale on Fairfax Ave, Penrose, following rapid expansion by Van Extras, a custom van fit-out company, which is consolidating into a purpose-built facility in another location.
The properties at 8 and 9-11 Fairfax Ave will be offered for sale by auction through Colliers International at 11am on March 13 and are being marketed by Andrew Hooper and Hamish West.
Van Extras' former main facility at 9-11 Fairfax Ave is prominently positioned on a 1900sq m site with a 1500sq m building. The company, which employs more than 20 tradespeople, customises about 125 vans per month for uses such as school transport, restricted mobility passengers and transporting industrial gear and equipment.

West says investors are attracted to the area due to its low vacancy levels, currently running below 5 per cent and the highest rents in the Auckland industrial market. According to Colliers research, rents in the Penrose and Onehunga area range from $100 to $120 per square metre for warehouse space and up to $225 per square metre for office space.
"Penrose is one of Auckland's most centrally located industrial precincts, about 10 minutes' drive from the CBD during off peak traffic," West says.
