Keywords
Using a keyword in your search (or Ad Watch) is a very effective way to ensure you receive the most accurate results possible. The search looks for the keyword(s) within the group of advertisements that match the options you have chosen in the search boxes.

To make your search criteria more specific, you can use one or more keywords or enter an exact phrase. To make your search criteria broader, you can select multiple options within a category and leave the keywords box blank.

Keywords are not case-sensitive. This means that 'Journalist', 'journalist' and 'JOURNALIST' will all produce the same search results.

Two keyword options are provided:

Find results with at least one of the words:
  • The search engine will try and find all the keywords you have selected within the text of each advertisement. Results will be found which contain all (or some) of the words in any random order within the advertisement. The more keywords found, the higher up the list the ads will appear.
  • You do not have to separate multiple words with a comma. Just leave a single space between them.
  • Word extensions - The search engine using a stemming operator, which finds variations of words, example word Journalist. This text would match all ads with the word 'Journalist' in the ad text, and also those with extensions of the word like journalism, journal, etc.
  • Be aware of abbreviations as listed below, which are commonly used in newspaper advertisements.

Find results with the exact phrase:
  • The search engine will try and find the exact phrase you have selected within the body text of each advertisement. Only those advertisements which contain the exact phrase will be returned.
  • Word extensions - do not apply to the 'exact phrase' keyword search. For example using 'senior level' will match any ads with the exact phrase 'senior level' and ignore variations like 'senior position, senior role' etc
  • Be aware of abbreviations as listed below, which are commonly used in newspaper advertisements.
