Woodville trainer Bruce Marsh will be hoping that lightning strikes twice in an appropriately named race at at the Wellington Racing Club meeting at Trentham tomorrow.
Marsh will have a strong hand in the $30,000 Lightning Handicap (1000m) a listed stakes race he won last year with Golden Butterfly.
Golden Butterfly will be back to defend her title and will be backed up by stablemate Buster Brookfield, who ran second in the race two years ago.
Both horses have strong form credentials.
Golden Butterfly ran third in the group one $100,000 weight-for-age Auto Auctions (1400m) at Trentham at her last start.
At the outing before, Golden Butterfly was fifth in the group one $100,000 weight-for-age Waikato Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa.
The six-year-old has won three races at Trentham and ran fourth in last year's group one Telegraph Handicap (1200m).
Buster Brookfield, who has also won three races at Trentham, ran fourth in the Auto Auctions, at his first start since November.
"They are probably both better at 1200 metres but they should still be very competitive on Saturday," Marsh said.
"They have freshened up really well."
Darryl Bradley is likely to ride Golden Butterfly, with Brian Hibberd on Buster Brookfield.
The Marsh-trained Shinnecock will take on a strong juvenile field in the $100,000 Wakefield Stakes (1200m) for two-year-olds at Trentham.
Shinnecock won the Wellesley Stakes at Trentham in October and was the runner-up to Flying Babe in the $500,000 Mercedes Classique at Te Rapa early last month.
