Ashley Judd plays a woman named Libby, who thinks she is happily married until she is "framed for the murder of her husband." (Well, that's pretty much guaranteed to put a damper on the anniversary-night booking for dinner, bed and breakfast at Sky City.)
They've gone sailing and the Coastguard has found her in a blood-soaked nightgown on a blood-smeared deck with a knife in her hand.
In prison she makes friends with a couple of other women who killed their husbands but are otherwise the salt of the earth.
One gives her legal advice: she has been tried and convicted for the murder of her husband so she cannot be tried for the same crime twice.
When she gets out of prison, she determines to find her cheatin' ex and reclaim their 10-year-old daughter.
This involves as many shots as director Bruce Beresford can manage that show how much time Judd spends in the gym.
Which is probably where they spent the money that could have gone on a plot.
