ASB opened its brand-new Northland regional centre and branch in the heart of the Whangarei CBD on Monday.
The opening of the modern 770sq m centre at 5 Rathbone St was celebrated with a dawn blessing led by local kaumatua.
The ASB branch and regional centre, which is believed to be the first major new commercial development in the Whangarei CBD for several years, continues the bank's investment in Northland where it has been part of the community for more than 50 years.
On the ground floor, Whangarei's ASB branch will open with the same friendly local team, relocated from the existing Whangarei and Walton St branches.
A Smart ATM will remain in the Walton St lobby.
The branch will also support customers with the latest digital banking services including 24-hour automated "express banking" transactions, Smart ATMs and video access to banking experts across New Zealand.
Immediately above the branch, the ASB Northland Regional Centre will provide office space and meeting rooms for more than 35 people from the local ASB retail, commercial, wealth and insurance and rural banking teams.
ASB general manager branch banking Grant Gilbert says ASB's proud history in Northland's communities stretches back more than 50 years.
"ASB has a strong history in Northland and it's exciting to build on our relationships within the community through a brand-new base in the heart of the Northland economy."
ASB continues to invest in the Northland region with support for events including the ASB Northland Secondary School Sports Awards, ASB Kerikeri Half Marathon and ASB Performance Pathway.
"We are pleased to be celebrating 27 years of sponsorship with Sport Northland this year. It's a fantastic milestone and we look forward to delivering more successful community events this year, together," Mr Gilbert said.
