How the Dow Jones industrial average fared on Tuesday

The Nasdaq has lost 19 points, 0.4 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is up 1,696.57 points, or 9.7 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 160.72 points, or 7.9 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 372.51 points, or 7.4 percent.
