Spark, Z Energy and Restaurant Brands are in the running for this year's Deloitte Top 200 Company of the Year award.
Winners for all award categories will be named next week on December 2.
Spark managing director Simon Moutter said the telecommunications company was at the epicentre of digital disruption and technological change.
"From here forward we've got a job to do to leverage the platform we've created and be the business that can do a better job, bring more capabilities to New Zealanders, more digital services that can help people live more amazing lives... and we're determined to make a real contribution to the country," he said.
Z Energy chief executive Mike Bennetts said highlights of Z Energy's year had been its work on its application to buy Caltex New Zealand, and making sure it delivered safe and reliable operations for customers.
"Given the scale of the company that we now have, I think there's a chance for us to make a greater contribution around thought leadership in New Zealand. That would have a couple of focuses; clearly health and safety... and increasingly there's a chance for us to be part of a solution around sustainability."
Restaurant Brands chief executive Russel Creedy said this year had been a big one for the company.
"We did our first aquisition in Australia, at the start of the year, and towards the end of the year we have completed the aquisiton of a similar multi-restaurant business in Hawaii," Creedy said.
"We have now moved from a New Zealand-based only company - with only New Zealand interests - to a true internationally represented franchise operator."
