Hundreds of teenagers queued on Wellington's Lambton Quay this morning for the opening the city's first Topshop and Topman.
The British multinational fashion chain opened its first store on Queen St in Auckland about 18 months ago and is continuing its rollout into the New Zealand market with this store in the capital.
Top Retail Group managing director Jamie Whiting said at least a couple of hundred people, mostly teenagers were, gathered outside the store when he arrived about 6am.
"It's a globally-renowned fashion brand, British-based but plus 500 stores globally. [They're] very well known for their designer collaborations - they've collaborated with Kate Moss, JW Anderson, there's a whole lot of designer collections they do," he said.
"They're the only high street fashion brand to show at London Fashion Week so a really well known fashion brand and one we thought would work really well in the New Zealand market."
The arrival follows the recently-opened David Jones department store and looks to be part of a wave of new offerings for Wellingtonians, with Australian footwear brand Wittner Shoes opening on Featherston St and Platypus Shoes setting up on Manners St from November 16.
