What's happening in the world of business, finance and economics today? We have the latest business, markets, currency and personal finance news, opinion and financial market reports.

1. Media
APN News & Media shareholders meet in Sydney today to vote on the NZME demerger proposal. If that deal goes ahead, NZME would list as a separate entity on the NZX.

2. Fieldays
Day two of the biggest annual event on the farming calendar runs at Mystery Creek, Hamilton. It finishes on Saturday.

3. Dairy
The results of the latest global dairy trade auction were released early this morning.

4. GDP
At 10.45am, Statistics NZ will release gross domestic products data. GDP represents the country's income earned from production in New Zealand. It includes income from production carried out by New Zealanders and by foreign firms operating in New Zealand.

5. Court
NZX v Ralec continues in Wellington. The operator of the New Zealand Stock Exchange is in court with Ralec, the developers of Clear, a Melbourne-based grain trading business.

The judge-alone trial is expected to last up to nine weeks.

6. Economy Hub
Herald business editor at large Liam Dann will today host and screen his regular weekly video interview.

7. Overseas
In Australia, labour force data is due and the Reserve Bank of Australia will issue a bulletin. Retail sales data from Britain and a Swiss National Bank rate decision is also due.

8. Awards
The KEA World Class NZ Awards will be announced tonight around 6pm.
