1. Two major events
Today will be a big day in the diary sector with two big events coming up: the twice-a-month global dairy trade auction and a forum to be held in Hamilton. See the following two events.
2. Dairy auction
Technically, not something for today, but very early tomorrow morning: the bi-monthly GlobalDairyTrade auction takes place from midnight tonight through to the early hours of Wednesday morning. We'll get to know more then about the prices being paid for dairy products, which has a huge effect on our primary sector and the returns people there earn.
3. Dairy forum
The Dairy NZ Farmers' Forum is on at Mystery Creek Events Centre, Hamilton today and a keynote speech will be delivered by Finance Minister Bill English.
4. Auckland, Guangzhou, Los Angeles
The second and final day of the annual Tripartite Economic Summic will be held the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland. Three cities have come together: Auckland, Guangzhou, Los Angeles, all with the aim of furthering each other's interests in an alliance which takes the traditional sister city relationship to a new trade level. The summit was organised by Auckland Tourism, Events and Development and more than 400 delegates are hearing from 55 speakers.
5. RBNZ data out
Reserve Bank of New Zealand inflation expectations will be released today at 3pm. Surveys are carried out regularly and reveal expectations and perceptions about monetary conditions, the consumer price index, interest rates, exchange rates, and other economic indicators.
6. Hospital expansion
A new wing is due to be opened today at Ronald McDonald House in Grafton, Auckland.
7. Budget
More pre-Budget announcements could emerge this week. Look out for politicians speaking at events, with the prospect of further revelations before the Budget comes out next Thursday.
