A man has died in a workplace incident in Christchurch this afternoon after he was trapped under the ramp of a truck.
The man died at Forklifts NZ on Waterloo Rd, Hornby.
The company said it was not making any comment about the incident at this stage.
St John Ambulance were called to the scene just before 4pm, sending an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.
The patient died at the scene, St John communications adviser Ian Henderson said.
A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters helped to free the man. He was trapped under the ramp of a truck.
WorkSafe NZ has been notified and is making preliminary inquiries.
A Police spokesman said the man died as a result of his injuries and Police were now acting on behalf of the Coroner.
They were also assisting WorkSafe NZ with its investigation and have no further information to release.
