Forty New Zealand companies are included in the latest Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific index, with 16 local firms making it into the top 100.
The index was announced in Hong Kong last night and ranks the top 500 tech businesses across the region according to their revenue growth over the last three years. Only China had more companies in the top 100 than New Zealand, with 29.
"New Zealand has by far the highest representation per capita on the index," Deloitte said.
Queenstown-based online booking company Bookme was the top-rated local business, ranked 18th overall with sales growth of 1359 per cent.
Kiwi software developer Alphero came 22nd, with 1118 per cent growth.
Snakk Media, the NZAX-listed digital advertising firm founded by tech entrepreneur Derek Handley, was ranked 62nd. Its revenue had lifted by 486.3 per cent over the last three years.
Wellington-based online accounting software provider Xero was ranked 104th, with 317.18 per cent sales growth.
The No 1 ranked company was Taiwanese communications software firm China Communications Media Group, which had seen 26,585 per cent growth.
Deloitte private partner Stephen Nicholas said the fact that local firms accounted for 16 per cent of the top 100 companies showed New Zealand businesses had moved into the "upper echelon" of fast growing tech companies in the highly competitive Asia Pacific region.
