An error at ASB Bank meant pensioners and other welfare recipients experienced delays to their payments this morning.
ASB said Ministry of Social Development payments were not processed overnight because of a technical issue.
The issue had been resolved and the payments had now been processed, a statement said.
It said the bank would refund any penalties customers incurred because of the delays to payment processing.
"We apologise to any of our customers who have been inconvenienced."
The Ministry of Social Development earlier urged customers to contact ASB directly about the payment problem.
A customers who did not receive superannuation said phones at the ASB call centre were overloaded and it was impossible to get through.
