Rio Tinto invests in production

Rio Tinto will spend US$833 million ($1 billion) on power and fuel infrastructure under plans to increase iron ore production in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

The investment is part of a five-year programme started last year to increase the mining giant's production capacity in the region by half to 333 million tonnes a year by the first half of 2015. US$US$
