The number of passengers from Japan through Auckland International Airport in July is down 57.9 per cent on last year but the number from Australia is up 22.3 per cent.
This is according to the airport's July traffic update, which showed total international passengers of 628,805 in July, down 3.3 per cent on the same month last year.
The number of domestic passengers was 491,035, up 2.1 per cent.
There were 3696 international aircraft movements through the airport in July, up 6.9 per cent on last year, and 9427 domestic aircraft movements, down 3.5 per cent.
Arrivals from China were down 35.7 per cent, arrivals from Korea were down 35.4 per cent and arrivals from the US were down 3.6 per cent. Arrivals from the UK were down 14.8 per cent.
Arrivals from Germany rose 11.4 per cent, and arrivals from French Polynesia rose 11.3 per cent.
