On the same morning a court was hearing driving charges against Lara Bingle, listeners to a Sydney radio station were hearing the reality star read from an erotic novel.

Bingle faces four charges including not giving way to a vehicle and driving while suspended.

The 25-year-old was not required to appear at Waverley Local Court when her matter was mentioned on Tuesday.

But she did appear at the Sydney studios of Nova 969, where she took to the airwaves to read a brief extract of her "favourite book of the moment", E L James' erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey.

"Lara said she was actually reading the very explicit book herself already (although she's only up to Chapter Three)," Nova 969's website states.

"Reading it out loud was a bit of a battle for poor Lara though - she lost the page and is battling a bad cold at the moment but she got there in the end.

According to court documents, police allege that Bingle, while driving a black Range Rover, failed to give way to motorbike rider Niki Vinnicombe at the intersection of Wilga and Sandridge streets at Bondi Beach on May 14.

She allegedly failed to give her details to the motorcyclist and failed to notify authorities of a change of address.

In June, her agent Chrissy Biasotto told the Daily Telegraph she would be fighting the charges.

The case was adjourned to August 7.
