A woman wanted desperately to become a beautician and needed to go to beauty school to achieve that aim.
It would cost Mercedes Edney $7990 to enrol at the school in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, reports news.com.au
Edney started Ixora Botanical Beauty in 2012, which uses her chemical engineering background and knowledge of family traditions to create natural skincare products.
She needed the qualifications to become a beautician and without the enrolment funds, started a crowd-funding page on YouCaring.
Edney wrote about how she wanted to "further my skin care knowledge by getting my licence in aesthetics" but how she was not financially able to do it.
The campaign started a month ago had raised $400, well short of the $7,990 needed, and Edney was doubtful and disappointed the total would be raised.
Then something changed.
"I was at work, and I heard my PayPal alert go off. I saw the amount and said 'what the hell? what's wrong with PayPal?' I thought it was a glitch," she wrote on Twitter.
Her entire tuition fee had been paid by model, author and mum Chrissy Teigen, who perhaps unfairly is known more for what she doesn't wear than what she does.
She is also the wife of musician John Legend, whose his hit song All of Me is about his love for her.
Teigen, who is an ardent user of social media, told Edney on her crowd-funding page: "I've seen this be your passion for such a long time now. So excited to see you fulfil your dream!"
As for Edney her dream had become real.
