Soccer: Loss leaves City further adrift

Tauranga City United have suffered successive defeats after going down to Onehunga Mangere 2-1 in Auckland on Saturday.

Following their home loss to Western Springs two weeks ago, they were hoping to get back on track and things were looking promising when Jack McNab put the visitors one up midway through the first half. Onehunga Mangere however equalising just before half time.

A disappointing second half by Tauranga resulted in them falling a goal behind and that is the way the score remained. Tauranga City United's loss sees them now in sixth position on the table, a worrying seven points adrift of second spot.

On a promising note City's ranks have been strengthened with the addition of Ollie Wright and Craig Stephens. Both have played at higher levels and will be on show for locals when Oratia visit Links Avenue this Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Northern League, Second Division's previously unbeaten Western Springs lost 3-0 to second placed Mangere United, Claudelands Rovers defeated Albany 2-0, Lyn Avon lost at home to Warkworth 0-1, Oratia defeated Manukau City 4 -1, and Fencibles won 4-0 over Waiuku.
