Sheldon Bagrie-Howley and Chris Johnstone (Gore High School) won the gold medals in the pairs at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Pairs Championship played at The North Wellington Indoor Bowls Hall, Onepoto Domain, Titahi Bay, Wellington on Monday.
In the final they defeated Jacinta Frost and Sharena Holgate (Stratford High School) 10-4.
Bagrie-Howley was named the player of the tournament having finished third equal in the Secondary School Singles yesterday. This was the third year in a row that he has skipped the champion pairs combination.
In the semifinals Frost and Holgate defeated Joshua Saywell and Nash Smith, Tauranga Boys College 7-6 on an extra end while Bagrie-Howley and Johnstone defeated Stefan McCartain and Nathan Arlidge, Tauranga Boys College 17-3.
Saywell and Smith won bronze medals in the playoff against McCartain and Arlidge 11-8.
Twenty-eight pairs entered.
