Car flips on SH 36

Emergency services were called to a rural intersection on State Highway 36 after reports that a car had rolled.

The accident happened just after 11am at the intersection of Pyes Pa Rd and Taumata Rd, in rural Pyes Pa.

The Greerton Fire Brigade, St John and police attended the scene.

A Northern Fire Communications spokesperson said the car appeared to have flipped.

He said there was no one trapped.

Head of road policing in the Western Bay, Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said there were two passengers in the car at the time and neither were injured.

The accident site happened about 25 minutes south of Tauranga, heading towards Rotorua.

Tauranga Fire Brigade were initially called to the accident but returned returned to the station shortly after.
