Bryan Adams will bring his Get Up world tour to New Zealand early next year, playing at four of the country's major outdoor summer venues, including ASB Baypark stadium.
The Grammy and multi-award winning artist has spent the past three decades making music history.
He's sold more than 65 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
We chat to Pato Alvarez from Neptune Entertainment who is bringing the Summer of '69 crooner to ASB Baypark stadium on January 5.
How did it come about that you are bringing Bryan here?
"Being local, I love to bring major events to our community. The Mount is a perfect summer destination as well so the decision wasn't hard to make."
Do you think it is the sign of more big names coming to Tauranga?
"We always work hard to bring the best in international and national bands to our city, again being locals we push hard for this city. We are not only bringing Bryan Adams but also have one of New Zealand's biggest summer festivals, Bay Dreams, coming to the Mount, as well as One Love, one of the biggest reggae festivals in the world. So yes, this is only the start."
Any others in the pipeline?
"Yes, but I can't say just yet. We have a lot going on now before we focus on releasing more names and dates."
Are you yourself a Bryan Adams fan?
"I'm a fan of music in general and a big fan of Bryan's Summer of '69. His music brings back so many memories of my childhood back home in Chile. Back then I couldn't understand English so it's a lot nicer now! I always promote shows which I have strong feelings for the music."
How long will Bryan be in Tauranga?
"He will stay here for one night as we have four shows around the country. The day after the Mount show, we are heading to Napier for our final show."
What can fans expect at the concert?
"An international level of entertainment with the best production in the country, good vibes and energy. Bryan will be performing a set of all his hits for two hours straight. I am also looking forward to the support acts Dave Dobbyn and Jordan Luck from the Exponents."
