Part of a road near Te Puke was blocked off by police as part of a raid to find a man wanted in relation to guns.
Officers carried out the search warrant at Te Kahika Rd West yesterday, shutting off Te Matai Rd in the process.
A passerby said there was a heavy police presence at the intersection of the two roads.
A 20-year-old local man was arrested and charged with firearms offences.
A police spokesman said the warrant was in relation to local offending and was not linked to the current manhunt for Rollie Heke following the shooting in Morrinsville at the weekend.
The spokesman said police wanted to thank the public for their patience while Te Matai Rd was closed.
