A new private oncology and haematology clinic designed to treat up to 450 patients each year will be officially opened in Tauranga this week.
Canopy Cancer Care has two clinics in Auckland and has opened new premises at 850 Cameron Rd. The official opening will be on July 6.
The service will supplement the public cancer centre by providing cancer patients with the option of access to cancer drugs and treatments not available in the public system.
Four local oncologists will deliver some of the latest oncology chemo and immunotherapy treatments.
The Tauranga oncologists have teamed up with Auckland's Canopy Cancer Care which contributes the necessary systems, admin support, and access to Canopy's sourcing networks and programmes.
The clinic has been designed to treat up to 450 patients per year - on average, a patient will receive five treatments each.
Joining the four oncologists will be four specialists oncologist nurses and two administrative staff.
Oncologists include Dr Elliott Brenman, Dr Michelle Head, Dr Joanna Jones and Dr Richard North.
Dr Brenman specialises in genitourinary, gynaecological and lungs and Dr Head specialises in breast, head and neck, gastrointestinal and lungs.
Dr Jones specialises in breast and gynaecological and Dr Richard North specialises in genitourinary, gynaecological, head and neck and lungs.
A special function to celebrate the opening of the new Tauranga clinic will be held between 4.30pm-6.30pm at the new premises at 850 Cameron Rd.
