The head of Western Bay road policing is urging motorists to take extreme care after a spate of crashes around the region this morning.
Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said police had attended four crashes between 6am and 7.45am this morning.
The first crash at 6.26am involved a motorist losing control on State Highway 29 on Tuakopai Bridge as they headed towards Tauranga.
The driver struck a metal road barrier, but fortunately the four occupants of the vehicle were not injured, he said.
Mr Campion said the second crash which happened on Hewletts Road at 7.24am, involved a three car-collision, with minor injuries to one driver.
Then at 7.45am on Number One Rd in Te Puke the driver of a vehicle losing control on a moderate right hand bend, and striking a power box, partially blocking the road.
The driver sustained minor injuries, he said.
Meanwhile there are road diversions in place after a crash on Wainui Road southeast of Whakatane, after a logging truck and a car of collided just before 10am.
Police said there were no apparent injuries but Wainui Road southeast of Whakatane was blocked and traffic diversions in place via Stanley Street.
