Otumoetai's Hazelnut Way has emerged as the crowd favourite in the stakes to find Tauranga's steepest street.
An unofficial survey on the Bay of Plenty Times' Facebook page which asked readers what they thought was the city's steepest street saw Hazelnut Way attract the most posts, with more than 20 likes.
Runners-up were Gate Pa's Wylie St, Judea's Bell St and Otumoetai's Sherwood St. Orion Drive and Oteki Park Drive in Welcome Bay rated favourable mentions along with Matua's Sylvania Drive, Otumoetai Rd's steep incline up from Brookfield and 3rd Ave West's drop down to the Glasgow St industrial area.
Lots of other people had strong opinions, with streets like Millers Rd, 17th Ave West, Chestnut Way, Sterling Gate Drive, Naude Rd, Botanical Rd, Kennedy Rd, Milton Rd, Hawk Place and Moiri Place all attracting their fair share of likes.
One contributor could not resist a tongue-in-cheek dig at the steep speed humps on Links Ave while someone else confused steepness with congestion, describing Hewletts Rd as "pretty bad".
Even Mauao's 4WDtrack to the summit was not forgotten. "It's almost the most well-used street in Tauranga."
