Baycourt is warning people buying online tickets to check they are paying through authorised sites.
Tickets for some of Baycourt's events were being sold at inflated prices online on overseas websites, Baycourt manager Megan Peacock-Coyle said in a press statement today.
"These companies buy the tickets legally then on-sell them at higher prices with huge booking fees.
"Customers will end up paying far too much, and in the event of a cancellation, Ticketek will not refund them," Ms Peacock-Coyle said.
Ticketek was the only company authorised to sell tickets online for Baycourt.
Two upcoming events, Grease and Celtic Illusion, were currently being sold on the Viagogo website at increased prices.
Ms Peacock-Coyle said the Baycourt website directed all online transactions to the Ticketek website.
"If you're booking tickets for a Baycourt show over the Internet please ensure you're paying via Ticketek."
The problem was not exclusive to Baycourt, rather all ticketing companies were aware of this problem.
"In a way it further validates the calibre of the shows that we are bringing to Baycourt. But we don't want anyone to be cheated by this.
"Ticketek is the only authorised online seller for Baycourt shows. If you are unsure, please give our Box Office a call on 577 7188," she said.
