An attempted robbery in Greerton has sparked Tauranga Police to appeal to the public to find the offenders.

Last night at 6.45pm, two men entered the Carlisle Street dairy armed with a plastic pistol and knife.

The pair demanded money, but were chased out of the story by the owner and his assistant.

One offender was wearing dark blue trousers with a reflector band around the knee.

They were seen running down Tyrone St, where they got into a car described as silver and a modern shape.
