The woman seriously hurt in a head-on smash at Whakamarama yesterday is this morning still recovering in Tauranga Hospital.
The 51-year-old suffered possible pelvic and internal injuries in the collision, which happened about 3.20pm.

A hospital spokeswoman said the patient remained in the Intensive Care Unit this morning.

A 17-year-old Tauranga male who was travelling in the other vehicle suffered a broken leg and wrist plus other minor injuries.
The crash caused delays along the major highway for more than an hour.
