Add a comment

A 39-year-old local man hit by a logging truck on the Takitimu Drive expressway remains in Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit.

Head of Western Bay road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion told the Bay of Plenty Times the man was in a serious but stable condition.

He said the patient's prognosis was good.

Police were still trying to piece together the man's movements prior to him being struck by the truck about 4.45am last Friday, he said.

However, Mr Campion said the man was involved in another incident at the Mobil petrol station on Chapel St just prior to being struck.

"We have spoken to truck driver, the duty manager and another witness from the Mobil petrol station but we are still keen to speak to anyone else who has any information", he said.
