UPDATED: 11.35: Police in the area are searching for the man who held-up Greerton Liquor with a knife demanding cigarettes.

Sergeant Phil Wilkinson said the man left the store and ran towards McDonalds before police arrived.

The man was described as being of a slim build wearing black pants and a grey jersey.

Earlier: Police are responding to reports of a knife-point robbery at Greerton Liquor.

Sergeant Phil Wilkinson said initial reports were that a man had gone into the store about 10.50 with a knife and demanded cigarettes.

Police were at the scene, he said.

A reporter at the scene said police were inside the store talking to a staff member.

The shop has been closed.
