Georgia Williams and her husband Alistair moved back to the Bay about 18 months ago from West Auckland because they wanted their children to enjoy the lifestyle they grew up with.

"We felt it was time because Auckland has gone nuts."

The couple decided on the seaside suburb of Papamoa because of its proximity to the beach and good schooling, while the community was "fantastic", Mrs Williams said. "It's an awesome, cool community and we absolutely love it.

"What we find is Papamoa has people that have made an intentional move here, and they are really friendly."

Before the shift, Mr Williams had secured a teaching job while Mrs Williams worked as a freelance graphic designer.

Although capital gain did not hold much interest for the pair, "as we have no plans of going anywhere ... it is quite nice to know it's there".
