UPDATED: 9.15am: A reporter at the scene of a crash on Takitimu Drive said traffic was now moving again.
A logging truck and a car were stopped on the shoulder. The passenger door on the car had been smashed in.
EARLIER: Emergency services are responding to reports of a logging truck collision in Tauranga this morning.
The crash happened about 8.55am on Takitimu Drive near the Waihi Rd off ramp heading south, a fire service communications spokesman said.
Firefighters have just arrived at the scene. No one has been trapped. Police and St John ambulance staff are also at the scene.
It was not known how seriously injured the drivers were.
The ambulance had been called to check on the male driver of the car, who appeared to be in shock.
A reporter at the scene said traffic was backed up towards Bethlehem.
Bystanders have told the Bay of Plenty Times they can see a truck pulled over.
