Almost 15,000 Tauranga students will be part of new "Communities of Learning" established to raise student achievement.
Four new Communities of Learning, established as part of National's $359 million Investing in Educational Success policy, have been established in Tauranga.
These communities are made up of 23 schools and 14,588 students.
The schools join 444 schools from around the country that have formed themselves into Communities of Learning, taking the total to 793, Education Minister Hekia Parata announced yesterday.
"This is a terrific development because it means that one year into the four-year roll out of the programme about a third of our students are in line to benefit from their schools sharing expertise and resources," Ms Parata said.
Communities of Learning are funded through the Government's $359 million Investing in Educational Success initiative, which was designed to "systematically lift the quality of teaching and learning". Communities receive additional funding to enable teachers and principals to share expertise and best practice.
