UPDATED 11.10am: Tauranga police have found the missing boy.
A police woman was seen walking back towards his house with the boy in her arms.
Gathered police officers were clapping and cheering as the boy was returned home.
Police said in a statement that it appeared the boy had wandered onto a nearby property.
A member of the public found him and alerted police.
"We would like to thank the local community for their assistance in this matter," the statement read.
EARLIER: Tauranga police are searching for a two-year-old boy who has gone missing from a Bellevue Rd address this morning.
He was last seen about 9.45am and is wearing a dark blue onesie and light grey track pants.
He has light, curly brown hair.
Police Northern Communications Centre Inspector Ian Brooker said the boy was reported missing just after 10am this morning.
A number of police patrol vehicles were searching for the boy, he said.
It is understood he went missing from the cul-de-sac end of Bellevue Rd.
A reporter at the scene said at least 14 police cars were at the very end of the road.
Police were checking every property.
