A Tauranga resident taking a walk through the central city is questioning the safety of Wharf St's new outdoor lights, after they fell from their
Glenn Cameron contacted the Bay of Plenty Times, saying it was early on a clear, sunny day with no wind when the lights fell to the ground.
He said if it had been any later, someone could have been killed.
''Imagine if this had happened on Sunday with lots of people in town at a council promoted event in Wharf St?''
Mr Cameron questioned the safety of the lights installation.
The overhead lanterns are part of efforts to enhance the ambiance of the Wharf St Dining Precinct trial, aimed at providing an 'Eat St' vibe in Tauranga.
