The three-year-old boy who suffered a facial injury after being attacked by a dog in Te Puke was discharged from Waikato Hospital this morning.
Western Bay District Council animal service staff are continuing to work with police on their investigation into the dog bite incident, which happened on Monday.
The dog, which a council spokesman said was a pitbull-type breed of dog owned by a Te Puke person, was seized and remains under council control.
No decisions have yet been made about any potential charges or the dog's fate, the spokesperson said.
