A warehouse full of written treasures waited for a queue of people at the Tauranga Rotary Club's 28th Annual Easter Book Sale today.
Books of all sorts are for sale, from children's reads to prestigious authors are at the old Mount Action Centre from April 4-6.
First time volunteer Cherie Scott said she was with a friend, an old Rotarian member, who was sorting the donated books last week when she offered the club a helping hand.
"I said to them, 'Do you need help?" and they said, 'Of course!"
Ms Scott was in charge of the "lay-buy book" table where people could leave their collection of books before finding more.
The money raised from the three day book fair will be donated to local charities and causes and some international charities will receive funding as well, said Rotary Club member and event organiser Ann Pritchard.
"We support local programs and we will be supporting local schools and literacy programs."
The Rotary Club will also be donating money towards the Vanuatu clean up.
Books were donated from members of the public at participating local services stations, where Rotary Club members then collected and sorted over an 8 week process, said Tauranga's Rotary Club president Richard Speed.
"This is a local cause for a book recycling exercise."
