UPDATED 1.13pm: Fraser Cove staff and shoppers have been given the all clear after a suspected gas leak at Countdown.
Fire service senior station officer Len Sabin said staff had detected a slight smell of gas and set off the fire alarm as a precaution.
All the shops in the Countdown building were evacuated while fire fighters checked the area.
Mr Sabin said no gas was detected in the area and staff and shoppers were allowed back into the stores.
A gas specialist had been called to check the area, he said.
EARLIER: Fire fighters have been called to a suspected gas leak at Countdown Fraser Cove.
Fire service northern communications shift manager Jarron Philips said there had been reports of the smell of gas and a hissing sound.
The fire alarm had also been activated.
