A former production worker at a Mount Maunganui moulding plant has been awarded $12,800 in lost wages and compensation after being unjustifiably dismissed.
Aaron Bidois has been awarded $7,800 in lost wages and $5000 compensation for humiliation, loss of dignity and injury to feelings by the Employment Relations Authority.
The award was made in settlement of Mr Bidois's personal grievance against FSP Pacific Limited (FSP) in how it selected him for redundancy and carried out the dismissal.
Mr Bidois, who became his employment with FSP on October 16, 2013, was laid off on March 25, last year, in circumstances where the Authority said the company had breached several terms of its written employment agreement with him.
That included failures by FSP to treat Mr Bidois fairly while considering its decisions to make him and failing to consider whether there was an alternative position available in the business.
