The identity of a Tauranga man accused of raping a woman, assaulting another, and sexually violating a third woman and stabbing her in the throat remains suppressed.
The 18-year-old, who denied four charges when he appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday, was granted continued name suppression.
The accused has denied one charge each of sexual violation by rape, assault using a weapon, injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection.
The rape and assault with a weapon charges relate to an alleged incident at a Tauranga address in the early hours of January 6 this year.
The other two offences are alleged to have been committed at the Tauranga home of the third complainant on July 3 last year. Defence lawyer Tony Balme told Judge Robert Wolff that his client denied all the charges and elected trial by jury.
Mr Balme said he sought an extension of the interim name suppression orders to preserve the man's right to a fair trial.
The accused, who did not seek bail, was remanded in custody to next appear in Tauranga District Court on March 24 for a case review hearing, when name suppression would be revisited.
